Application Period for the Immovable Property Commission Extended Until 21 December 2027
The application period for the Immovable Property Commission has been extended once again.
With the adoption of Law No. 51/2025 by the Parliament of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the deadline for applications concerning immovable properties falling within the scope of Article 159 of the Constitution has been extended until 21 December 2027.
As in previous years, this legislative amendment provides a renewed opportunity for rights holders to submit their claims.
Who Can Apply?
Under this law, applications may be submitted by:
- Natural persons
- Legal entities (companies)
- Who claim rights over immovable property located in Northern Cyprus.
What Types of Claims Can Be Made?
Applicants may request one or more of the following remedies:
- Restitution (return of the property)
- Exchange
- Compensation
Why Is This Important?
Applications to the Immovable Property Commission are recognised as an effective and mandatory domestic remedy, both under domestic law and in the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights.
The extension of the application period constitutes a significant opportunity for individuals who have not yet submitted a claim. Final deadline for applications: 21 December 2027
